Pacco-fest
The Pacco-test is our way of building a test-kit that allows everybody to test water quality in the city. On Saturday 15/05 we display all parts of the project en form builder- and user-groups involving all those interested in one or more parts. At the beginning of summer we will start measuring and monitoring with the first Pacco-test prototype.
citizens, community workers, researchers, computer-geeks, artists, local residents, water-fanatics and all those curious are warmly welcomed !

Context
The Pacco-test is a small box that allows non-experts to form a scientifically-based opinion regarding the water quality in their local area. It can reveal early signs of pollution, and by showing the use of surface water as an alternative to tap water, it contributes to the reduction of the waste of water. Also, and maybe above all, the Pacco-test is an experiment in collective construction and use of a measuring instrument that is meaningful for both citizens and scientists.
On February 15th City Mine(d) launches an open process to bring users and builders together and to create a community of individuals for whom the Pacco-test provides an opportunity to deal collectively with questions they personally have been concerned with for a long time.
City Mine(d) proposes to divide the questions participants have, on the occasion of the Pacco-test as well as questions they have always been curious, over 7 groups, each of which carries the name of a crucial part of the Pacco-test. The groups not only bring together practical questions about that specific part, but also more conceptual, social and political questions. The parts are: the box, the screen, the computer, the lending point, the data-base, the users and water.
The launch of the process happens by means of a festive brainstorm in which each question can be an opportunity for a more or less formalised conversation. After February 15, around those conversations working groups will be formed to solve a problem or just to share the challenge.
This is an invitation to citizens, community workers, researchers, computer-geeks, artists, local residents, water-fanatics and all those curious to take part in one or more conversations, to ask questions and to come up with answers, or to meet several Pacco-testers.
